Leeds United are currently in negotiations with goalkeeper Karl Darlow, whose contract expires at the end of the month.

The 35-year-old has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs over the past month, including Manchester United, who are searching for an experienced back-up goalkeeper. United have extended the contract of Tom Heaton , 40, for another season, yet have also looked at Darlow and Wolves ' Sam Johnstone.

Darlow could leave Leeds - where he has made 38 appearances in three years - as a free agent at the end of June. United have Senne Lammens established as their No.1 and Heaton retained, but have a goalkeeping department in a state of flux, with Altay Bayindir on the transfer list and Andre Onana also available for a permanent move away after a loan spell at Trabzonspor.

However, Leeds are determined to retain Darlow, who played a key role in helping the Whites steer clear of relegation last season, reports Leeds Live .

The Wales international displaced summer signing Lucas Perri as first choice in January, going on to record five clean sheets in 22 Premier League appearances while producing a string of impressive saves — one of which, against Wolves, earned a nomination for save of the season.

The shot-stopper has begun each of his three campaigns under Daniel Farke as second choice, yet in the last two has ultimately finished the season as the number one. The manager suggested last month that he was eager to hold on to Darlow.

Nevertheless, Leeds are expected to dip into the goalkeeper market again this summer, and it remains possible that Darlow — who has 38 club appearances to his name — could find himself earmarked for a back-up role once more. Farke hinted back in January that he had a particular preference in mind for a goalkeeper signing.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick's side have confirmed that Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia will leave the club this summer upon the expiry of their contracts. The club announced on Wednesday morning that Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe would also depart when their deals ran out.

After finishing third and securing a place in the Champions League next season, United are eager to reshape their squad this summer. A top-class midfielder to replace the outgoing Casemiro is the priority, with Atalanta's Ederson poised to be the first signing of the summer window.
