Real Madrid XI vs AEK Athens – Predicted lineup and team news

doc-content image

Real Madrid travel to Athens on Wednesday, aiming to record their fourth straight Champions League victory when they face AEK Athens at the Allwyn Arena.

José Mourinho’s team arrive in excellent form, having won six matches in a row in all competitions. They have taken maximum points from their first three Champions League league-phase games—beating Inter Milan 2-1, Roma 4-3, and RB Leipzig 4-1.

At home, Madrid recently defeated Racing Santander 3-0 and followed that with an important 2-1 win against Barcelona in El Clásico.

Real Madrid team news

Arda Güler and Aurélien Tchouaméni will not feature, with Mourinho choosing to rest the two midfielders. Rodrygo remains unavailable because of a knee injury, while Raúl Asencio is ruled out with a leg problem.

There is good news elsewhere: Federico Valverde has returned after recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up in the Clásico. Vinícius Júnior is also available, since his domestic suspension does not affect European matches.

Madrid’s travelling group still includes major names such as Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Thibaut Courtois, giving the side plenty of quality even with the rotations.

Real Madrid predicted lineup

Possible Real Madrid starting XI: Courtois; Dumfries, Rudiger, Huijsen, Carreras; Tchouameni, Guler; Diomande, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappe
