Harry Kane plans to hand out lavish gifts to his Bayern Munich and England team-mates as thanks for their part in his Ballon d'Or win. The striker became the first Englishman to win the prestigious gong since Michael Owen's triumph in 2001.

Kane beat out Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal for the trophy, owing to his incredible 73-goal campaign last season. Following the ceremony, the 33-year-old told BILD of his plans to purchase presents for his club and country colleagues.

Kane said: "Some of the guys have asked for watches or something similar – so I'll have to come up with something nice for them, both at Bayern and with the England national team. I'll take care of it; I'll definitely get everyone a nice present."

Discussing the fallout of his Ballon d'Or win, the striker admitted the magnitude of the situation is still settling in. He explained: "A truly crazy week. What an unbelievable evening on Monday. Of course, there was a lot of nervousness involved – it was a completely different set of emotions than at a football match.

"There was a lot of waiting involved, and I kept imagining what it would be like if I actually won. But honestly, it was just something really special. The support I received from friends, family, and fans – through messages, on social media – was almost overwhelming. So many congratulations!

"And yes, after the ceremony, I had a lovely evening celebrating with the people close to me. After that, of course, it was straight back to work – I'm still trying to process it all."

The notion of a knighthood was touted to Kane and he admitted that while it would be nice, he is uncomfortable with the idea of being called 'Sir'.

He added: "I certainly wouldn't say no – I really appreciate it. If it came to that, it would be incredible and something I'd be incredibly proud of. But I don't want to get too carried away with it right now.

"It sounds good, but it would feel kind of strange if everyone called me Sir – so for now, I'll just stick with Harry."

Kane's team-mates will have to wait to find out what he's got planned for their gifts but the striker has returned to Germany with a hero's welcome from his squad. The next international break is coming soon and it is likely that the Three Lions will do the same for their beloved captain.
