Nottingham Forest make Arnaud Kalimuendo transfer decision after pre-season

Arnaud Kalimuendo looks set to remain at Nottingham Forest beyond the transfer window after an eye-catching pre-season.

The attacker spent the second half of last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt after struggling for starts following his move from Rennes a year ago. According to Nottingham Post, Frankfurt held an option to buy and wanted the deal at a lower fee, and talks have since quietened.

As things stand, head coach Oliver Glasner says the 24-year-old is likely to stay. “Kalimuendo is our second best scorer in pre-season, after Igor (Jesus),” Glasner said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League opener at home to Leeds United at three pm. “So that’s why our goal is to keep him.”

“Everything I say today could be wrong tomorrow. If a massive offer comes in and he says to me, ‘gaffer, I want to leave’ then probably we will find a solution. But today, the intention is that he stays here.”

Kalimuendo signed a five-year contract when he completed a £26 million move from France last summer. He made nine Premier League appearances as a substitute in 2025/26.

Whether he can lead the line remains an open question, though his versatility offers Glasner a different option as he looks to make a strong start. Forest hope to add a forward before the window closes at 11pm on September one. With Taiwo Awoniyi joining Coventry City, Igor Jesus and Chris Wood will compete with Kalimuendo for a place.
