Antonin Kinsky reveals what he really thinks about Tottenham 'quality' after £315m transfer blitz

Tottenham Hotspur remain just one of three clubs yet to score in the Premier League this season, but Antonin Kinsky believes his side are on the up.

Antonin Kinsky reckons Tottenham Hotspur have taken a step in the right direction following Saturday afternoon's clash against Nottingham Forest. The Lilywhites secured their first point of the new Premier League campaign when they held Oliver Glasner's side to a goalless draw at the City Ground.

Although Spurs didn't get on the scoresheet, and remain one of just three English top-flight teams yet to do so, they managed to keep a clean sheet for the first time this season. Tottenham also enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the East Midlands, but they failed to hit the target from seven shots.

Having forked out £315million on lots of new players in the transfer window and ended the summer with one of the steepest net spends in the Premier League, the Lilywhites were expected to at least climb into the top half of the table. But, Spurs still languish in the relegation zone, ranking joint-third from bottom with Aston Villa.

Speaking to club media after the game, Kinsky claimed the weekend's result could be a turning point. The Tottenham goalkeeper said: "Yes, today (Saturday) was a difficult game, but on the other hand, it was exactly what we expected.

"I think, from the defensive point of view, well done. The zero at the final result speaks for itself. I think today, as I said before, the intensity and everything we put in was different than in the last games, and I think it's different in a way that it has to look like this all the time.

"I think we can be happy with this, and we can build from that," added a rather diplomatic Kinsky, who was then quizzed on Liam Delap's battle with Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke.

"Yes, I think, as I said, everyone today, I think we delivered," said the 23-year-old, who was named number one by De Zerbi shortly after he got his feet under the table back in April.

Pointing to the strength in depth following a record-breaking summer, Kinsky added: "As I said, from this we can build on, because of the quality we have. I'm pretty sure that it will change, and it will go the way we want."

Although Kinsky reckons that everything will soon fall into place, the Tottenham boss knows there is a lot of work still to be done. De Zerbi told Sky Sports: "We bought very, very good players, but you can't just build the team with the names like in Football Manager.

"We are disappointed for the result but for the performance very happy. Considering we started to work together last Thursday for the first time, for the first day.

"We have to improve in every part of football, organisation with and without the ball. Even today, I thought we defended very well.

"We have to work because I think we played very well with the ball, we found the solution. I think we can be much better in the final third."
