Arsenal plotting move for PSG star a week after Champions League heartbreak

Arsenal are plotting a move for exciting Paris Saint-Germain defender Emmanuel Mbemba.

The 18-year-old has been offered professional terms by the European champions, but he has yet to commit his future to the club.

Cross-city rivals Paris FC had been hoping to swoop in and sign the teenager on a free, but it is now reported Arsenal have made their move. Le Parisien claims that the Gunners have presented their project to the player after scouring him several times throughout the season.

Mbemba played a key role in PSG ’s Under-18 side winning the Coupe Gambardella, the cup competition for youth teams in France. PSG are desperate to keep the player, but his future remains up in the air.

Primarily a left-back, Mbemba is also capable of playing in central defence, providing the kind of flexibility that Mikel Arteta craves. However, reports in the French press suggest that the player may struggle to get a work permit to play for the Gunners immediately.

That’s unlikely to be a major issue for Arsenal however, who are looking to build depth in a squad that was a penalty shootout away from being crowned English and European champions.

Arteta is planning a busy summer window, with a number of areas targeted. Mirror Football understands that Aston Villa ’s Morgan Rogers is the Gunners’ top target, although Unai Emery ’s side are insisting they won’t be forced into a sale.

Privately, Arsenal believe they will be the England player’s first choice IF he was to push for a move away from the Midlands during the upcoming summer window.

After a big summer outlay in 2025, Arsenal may be forced into sales though, with the future of a number of players uncertain.

Arsenal co-owner Josh Kroenke has already confirmed that there is no intention of standing still after finally ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title.

He said: “The business never stops. Right now there are already other teams who are trying to strengthen and come at us for next season.

“We need to be aware of that. We’ve already had a few different conversations about different areas where we think we can improve on and off the pitch.

“I am looking forward to getting that going this summer but it’s going to be an interesting one because of the World Cup but fortunately everyone is coming to the United States so I don’t have to travel.”
