Arsenal spending could surge past £160m as four transfers given green light

Arsenal possess a vastly different aura now compared to when Mikel Arteta first took the reins in December 2019.
Over the past six-and-a-half years, the Spaniard has flawlessly delivered on the five-phase plan he set out upon his arrival. That, in turn, has propelled the Gunners to the summit of the sport, securing their first Premier League title in 22 years this season and reaching the Champions League final.
It comes as no surprise that some of the world's finest talents are queuing up for an opportunity to ply their trade at the Emirates Stadium, eager to become part of one of football's most thrilling projects. Arsenal could match their record £250million outlay from last summer, having already sealed the permanent £35m signing of Piero Hincapie this week.

A crucial difference this time around is that sporting director Andrea Berta is understood to be concentrating on fewer but superior quality signings. Now, Mirror Football examines four such players in addition to Hincapie - worth a combined total of £160million - who have given Arteta and Berta the green light for a transfer.
Jeremy Monga - £10m
Arsenal are pursuing a deal for Leicester City prodigy Jeremy Monga. Despite a number of other Premier League clubs showing interest in the 16-year-old winger, it is understood that Arsenal appear to be the youngster's most probable destination, given his eagerness to head to north London.
The Gunners are looking to reach a compromise in negotiations, taking into account the player's contractual situation and his preference for a switch to the club. Monga will put pen to paper on his first professional contract at the King Power Stadium on 10 July, when he turns 17, which will enable the Foxes to command a fee for the player.
The club are keen to avoid a tribunal settling on a fee for Monga's services. Their opening offer, which was around £5m, was knocked back, with Leicester holding firm for at least £10m.

Oscar Mingueza - Free
One of Arsenal's chief targets this summer is to bring in a versatile full-back, capable of playing on either flank. Given Tino Livramento's injury record and Newcastle's hefty valuation of the Englishman, there is little indication the Gunners will wrap up a deal for him this summer.
Oscar Mingueza, however, is a player who fits the bill for Arteta in several ways. According to Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal have been alerted to the possibility of signing the Celta Vigo defender, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the month, meaning he could be snapped up as a free agent.
The 27-year-old is anticipated to depart the La Liga outfit after four years at the club, with significant interest coming from the likes of Juventus , Newcastle and Aston Villa . Mingueza himself is keen to make the move to England, having spent his entire career in his native country.
With a market value of £15m, according to Transfermarkt, Arsenal would be securing quite the bargain by landing his services without paying a transfer fee. Mingueza is a dependable performer and his ability to remain injury-free would prove invaluable, given the volume of defensive injuries Arteta has been forced to manage in recent campaigns.

Christos Tzolis - £35m
The BBC reports that Arsenal have been offered Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis as they seek to refresh their attacking options ahead of next season. Earlier this month, it was claimed that Berta was actively pursuing a potential deal, with Arteta also backing the signing.
Tzolis, 24, is said to be extremely eager to join Arsenal's ranks, giving them an additional advantage as they look to finalise his signing. The Greece international could be available for around £35m - which would represent a record fee received for a Belgian Pro League player.
Tzolis, who began his career at PAOK, scored three goals in 30 appearances for Norwich between 2021 and 2024. He is said to be prepared for another attempt at English football, having netted 43 goals for Brugge over the past two seasons.

Morgan Rogers - £80m
Morgan Rogers is Arsenal's primary transfer target this summer. The Aston Villa star is viewed by Arteta as his standout signing, with Rogers capable of operating both on the left wing and in midfield.
The player is 'open' to the possibility of joining Arsenal and becoming part of their ambitious project. It is understood that a fee of £80m would be sufficient for Villa to consider selling the 23-year-old, who is currently representing the Three Lions at the World Cup.
Speaking from England's World Cup camp earlier this month, Rogers insisted his sole focus remained on his international duties rather than rumours surrounding his future. However, it emerged last week that Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice has been doing everything in his power to convince Rogers to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
