Arsenal are ready to go all out to make Vinicius Junior the biggest signing in the club's history

Excitement is building among Arsenal fans as the club's summer transfer activity shifts into a higher gear, with a string of marquee names now being touted for a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The club’s early business had been relatively low-key, limited to the arrivals of £34.5million defender Piero Hincapie on a permanent deal and back-up goalkeeper Illan Meslier as a free agent. A more significant outlay followed with the £34m signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, though the Greece international is widely considered a depth option rather than the standout left-winger that the club have promised to deliver before the window closes.

The pace of Arsenal's recruitment has since picked up considerably, with manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta pushing hard on multiple fronts - among them a move for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Verdict reached on £103m winger

Arsenal are reportedly willing to withdraw from the race for PSG winger Bradley Barcola. Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that Barcola will not pen a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain and is exploring a transfer this summer.

The France international has been on Arsenal's radar throughout the summer, with Arteta having made signing a left winger a priority. However, Premier League rivals Liverpool are regarded as frontrunners to secure Barcola, who is their top target.

L’Equipe now claims that Arsenal, whose interest in the 23-year-old is less pronounced than Liverpool's, are prepared to abandon their pursuit of the talented speedster. The primary reason behind this is that Arsenal are only willing to spend up to €90m (£77m) for his signature, while the European champions are said to be demanding €120m (£103m).

That's considered excessive by the north Londoners. Reports suggest Liverpool have already reached agreement on personal terms and are now prepared to test PSG's resolve with an offer in the region of £85m.

Vinicius Junior deal approved

The Brazilian has just 12 months remaining on his Los Blancos contract but appears no closer to agreeing fresh terms at the Bernabeu. Arsenal can present him with a lucrative pay deal worth £500,000 per week, alongside what some reports suggest is his main priority, to 'feel loved' by whichever club he represents next season.

Arsenal have the financial capability to meet the 26-year-old's considerable wage demands, which would make him comfortably the club's highest earner, with Bukayo Saka currently on just over £300,000 per week.

Such an arrangement would stretch Arsenal's wage structure significantly and influence future negotiations with other high-profile stars such as Declan Rice, with whom the club remain in talks over an extension. However, the fact it is being contemplated demonstrates just how highly Arteta and Gunners chiefs regard Vinicius.
