Eddie Howe ‘to leave’ Newcastle United on eve of Premier League season

According to Sunderland Echo, Eddie Howe is set to leave Newcastle United after almost five years in charge.

Howe, 48, arrived in November 2021 and delivered Carabao Cup glory in 2025, the club’s first major silverware in 70 years. He also twice led the Magpies into the Champions League.

Last season was a setback, with Newcastle finishing 12th in the Premier League.

The summer has been turbulent too, with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali departing and uncertainty persisting over captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Howe oversaw a 4-1 pre-season friendly defeat at Bristol City on Wednesday night.
