Kai Havertz has become the highest-scoring German player in Premier League history, reaching 46 goals in 172 appearances in the competition.

The Arsenal forward set the record by scoring the winner in his side’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield Road. His goal took him past former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who previously held the record.

Havertz began his Premier League career in 2020 after joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen. He spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring 19 goals in 91 league appearances.

In 2023, the German made the move across London to Arsenal, where he has continued to develop under Mikel Arteta. Although initially used in different attacking roles, Havertz has increasingly featured as a centre-forward, becoming an important option in the Gunners' attack.

His latest goal was significant beyond the personal milestone. It was his 27th in 81 Premier League appearances for Arsenal and helped the club end a lengthy wait for a league victory at Anfield. The result also strengthened their position at the top of the table, opening up a three-point lead over Manchester City.
