Jamie Carragher believes Trent Alexander-Arnold has played his final Liverpool game after he was booed by fans during Sunday’s draw with Arsenal .
Liverpool blew a two goal half-time lead at Anfield in a thrilling Premier League clash .
Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz opened the scoring but Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino hit back after the break and the Gunners held on for a point after the latter was sent off in the 79th minute.
At the start of the week, Alexander-Arnold announced he would be leaving his boyhood club at the end of the season and is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
He was benched for the Arsenal clash with Arne Slot keen to try out Conor Bradley at right-back but the young defender struggled and was withdrawn on the hour mark.
Alexander-Arnold came onto the pitch to a chorus of boos from the Anfield crowd , who continued to jeer his every touch and sing: ‘There’s only one Conor Bradley,’ in retaliation.
Not every home fan joined in and the boos quietened after the England international very nearly scored a sublime free-kick in the closing stages.

Post-match, Liverpool legend Carragher was scathing of the jeering supporters, telling Sky Sports: ‘I’m surprised how many. When you’re in a crowd of 60,000, there’s no doubt there’s a lot of unhappy people at Liverpool about the situation. And I’ve said that’s understandable.
‘But for me, I said it before the show and said the same away at Leicester where there were a few boos in the away section, I don’t believe any player putting on that red shirt on going out there to get them three points or winning titles who goes on to win trophies should be being booed.
‘I understand, there’s a lot of ill-feeling. And some people outside of Liverpool won’t be able to understand that. I do. Booing one of your own players while they’re playing is not for me.’

Carragher later predicted that Slot will not pick Alexander-Arnold for the last two games of the season in order to avoid a similar situation: ‘He’s choosing to leave, I don’t agree with what happened today but there shouldn’t be a send off for him.
‘That was a step too far. Sing other players’ names don’t boo a player wearing the shirt.
‘That could’ve been his last performance which might be the right thing as Liverpool don’t need a circus.
‘If you are frustrated with Trent, sing Conor Bradley or Steven Gerrard’s name. Don’t boo a player as it opens you up to criticism from supporters up and down the land about Liverpool supporters.
‘Trent was asked whether he’d want to win the Champions League or the Ballon d’or and he said Ballon d’Or – even if he thinks that, it’s not the right answer for a local player at Liverpool.
‘The club has to come first. That showed Liverpool supporters he’s not a player who thinks about the club more than himself. He’s a brand. He’s an amazing footballer and that’s why Real Madrid want him.’
Liverpool, already crowned Premier Champions take on Brighton away and Crystal Palace at Anfield in their final two games of the season.
