Lionel Scaloni left Argentina after the World Cup and his family surprised fans with a sign thanking them

The coach of the Argentina National Team ended his stay in his hometown, and his family left a message on the front door of the house for those who came by during the last few days.

Lionel Scaloni is no longer in Pujato, Argentina. After the 1-0 defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, part of the Albiceleste squad arrived in the country and was welcomed by thousands of fans who thanked the team for their tireless effort and work in reaching a second consecutive final in the tournament, beyond the result.

After several days in his hometown, where he received affection from neighbors, fans, and youngsters who came up to greet him, the Argentine coach set off on his departure and left behind an image that once again reflected the closeness he maintains with his town.

Since arriving in Santa Fe, Argentina, the coach was the focus of multiple displays of affection. Hundreds of people went to his parents' house to greet him, ask for a photo, or simply thank him for his years in charge of the National Team and ask him to continue leading the team.

Scaloni, true to his style, responded to the people’s affection: he signed jerseys, balls, and flags, in addition to taking photographs with the fans who were waiting for his departure.

However, after a week there, this Sunday morning, the family announced that the coach had left for Mallorca, where he lives with his wife and children, and thanked everyone for the love and support received:

“Leo already left last night!!! Thanks for so much affection,” read a sign on an orange sheet of paper, handwritten and taped to the door of the home.

The photo, which was shared by user @efj249 on X, quickly went viral. In less than an hour, the post racked up more than 13 thousand “likes” and drew dozens of comments.

Beyond the crowd and the attention, the coach's departure had a detail in keeping with his profile: a simple message, without grand statements, but with enormous meaning for those who accompanied him.

Their family's sign served as one last display of gratitude toward a town that once again showed him its love, gratitude, and support.
