Man United progressing in Carlos Baleba talks with Brighton, Aston Villa table Ollie Watkins contract offer amid Saudi interest, and Man City see Adam Wharton enquiry rebuffed: WINDOW WATCH
It's that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period as clubs look to make big signings ahead of the new season.
Here are today's latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team...
Manchester United are continuing discussions over a fee with Brighton for Carlos Baleba.
Brighton have rejected United’s £60million plus £5m for the midfielder but talks have been progressing to a compromise.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international is hoping the deal can be wrapped up over the weekend.
Meanwhile, United right-back Habeeb Ogunneye is scheduled to undergo a medical with Arsenal ahead of his move there.
The deal is understood to be a free transfer with 40percent sell-on clause.
The 20-year-old is being signed to boost numbers with Arsenal’s U21s but also train with the first team.

Atletico Madrid have enquired about a loan deal for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
Atletico director Mateu Alemany was understood to have travelled to London on Thursday for talks.
Jackson also has interest from Aston Villa, Napoli and Saudi Arabia.
Tottenham are working on figures with City for Savinho and forward Omar Marmoush. The deal for Savinho could be worth up to £84m.
City have also asked about Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as they work through a list of targets.
Leeds swoop for goalkeeper Zetterer
Leeds United are closing on a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer to come in as James Trafford's deputy.
The clubs are finalising agreement for the 31-year-old, but Frankfurt need to find a new goalkeeper to replace Zetterer first.
Leeds are waiting for Lucas Perri to fully recover from a minor injury before he completes his delayed loan move to Torino.
Zetterer, 31, is a former Germany U21 international.
Aston Villa have been rebuffed in an enquiry for Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
Villa are willing to offer around £17.5m for the 24-year-old but Saints had already rejected a similar offer from Benfica.
Talks are ongoing as Villa assess options such as Tosin Adarabioyo at Chelsea and Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan to fill the void left by Ezri Konsa's move to Arsenal.

Manchester City maintain an interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
The Selhurst Park club are reluctant to lose the 22-year-old this summer but have been making significant enquiries for midfielders in recent weeks.
City are exploring several options including Manu Kone at Roma while they are advancing in talks to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille and are assessing the cost of a bid for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez.
'We did it [sold big players in the past], and now is not the moment to do that,' said Palace boss Pierre Sage on Thursday.
'He is able to play in another club, a big club. Here, or anywhere in Europe, but one year with us, in a new dynamic, will be good for him. And we need him - that is why I think he will stay with us.'
Wharton has been a significant Premier League performer in recent seasons and excelled in the Europa League Conference final but analysts at some top level would-be suitors have indicated his running statistics do not reflect someone who can fit into a high-pressing style.
He continues to show on the pitch, however, an ability to find the right pass and shield his defence.
City have also made contact with Palmeiras for winger Allan Elias as they seek a replacement for Savinho.
Allan, 22, wants to join City but his club are reluctant to sell now with their season running to December. Talks are ongoing over a £35million fee.

Inter Milan expect Curtis Jones to arrive later today ahead of a £30.7million move from Liverpool. The Italian side have scheduled Jones' medical for midday on Friday.
Inter bid £26.7m plus £4m in add-ons with a 10 per cent sell-on clause, offering a similar structure to the deal used to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham.

Jones, 25, will sign a five-year deal with the Serie A champions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool centre back Ifeanyi Ndukwe, 18, is in talks to join Levante on loan. Ndukwe does not qualify for a work permit in England so must be loaned out. Liverpool remain in talks over PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
Sheffield Wednesday are to confirm the signing of Liverpool's Northern Ireland international winger Kieran Morrison on a season-long loan.
West Ham are close to an agreement to sign highly-rated Manchester City forward Divine Mukasa on loan for the season.
There is no buy option for the 18-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City
Manchester City have asked about Palmeiras winger Allan Elias as they consider replacements for Savinho.
Allan is 22 but has not been capped by Brazil. Quick and skilful, he is not a goalscorer but has earned a reputation as a worker, willing to press.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also scouted him in recent months.
City are evaluating several options with Tottenham working on the deal to sign Savinho and forward Omar Marmoush.
Bayern Munich have reached a full agreement with Benfica over the £17million sale of Joao Palhinha.
The 31-year-old midfielder had been a target for Aston Villa and Newcastle United but will now reunite with his former Fulham boss Marco Silva at Benfica.
Villa were only willing to take him on an initial loan which Bayern refused.
Aston Villa have made a new contract offer to striker Ollie Watkins.
The 30-year-old is open to a move to Al Hilal who had a £38.5m offer rejected on Tuesday but are preparing a fourth offer for the England international.
Watkins has scored consistently throughout his Villa career and his goals would be difficult to replace.
Villa have maintained contacts over Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson who also has interest from Napoli but he is valued around £65m.

Wrexham are continuing discussions with free agent Axel Tuanzebe.
The 28-year-old Congo international left Burnley at the end of last season and has had interest from clubs but is interested in Wrexham's ambitious project.

Crystal Palace have rekindled interest in Auxerre midfielder Kevin Danois.
The 22-year-old was discussed as an option in January and Palace have made further enquiries.
The France U21 international is an attacking player who can also play out wide and was on Newcastle United's list earlier in the year.
Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has confirmed they are making progress on their bid to sign Real Betis winger Pablo Garcia and remain in talks for Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez.
'I think probably, if nothing unknown happens, we will see him in a black and gold shirt. It has to be finalised, but I would say 90 percent of this deal is done. We are talking about the last details,' said Ilicali.
Pictures of Hernandez in Hull have been posted on social media, and Ilicali told BBC Humberside: 'We have to get the club side done and Yeremay also wants to come but it is a very vital, critical decision for himself. This deal is a very hard deal but we are somewhere where it looks positive.
'He is a young boy and it would change his life completely so he wanted to see where he would come. We will see in three, four days if this deal will be done or not. If it happens it will be a record for sure.'
West Ham and Burnley have expressed interest in Sunderland winger Jocelin Ta Bi.
The 21-year-old only joined Sunderland from Maccabi Netanya in January and signed a four and a half year contract.
He made one appearance in the FA Cup against Oxford United and then started against Fulham in the Premier League.
As it stands, the Championship clubs have expressed interest but talks have not gone further.
