Manchester United remain appreciative of Newcastle United left back Lewis Hall but acknowledge it would be a difficult transfer to pull off.

The club are still assessing market movements, checking who is available at the right price, before deciding on their next priority position.

Another midfielder has been at the forefront of their thinking while another forward still hinges on Marcus Rashford departing. Despite interest from other clubs, as it stands, he remains likely to start the season at United.

Cover at left back is required as United are going into the new season with Luke Shaw, who has one year left on contract, as their only recognised senior option in that position.
