Another game, another decisive contribution from Lionel Messi. The Argentine scored and provided an assist as Inter Miami came from behind to beat New England Revolution away from home.
The result also brought another personal milestone for the 39-year-old, who has now reached 30 goals for the season.
Messi has scored 30 times and registered 16 assists in 35 appearances for Inter Miami in 2026, giving him an impressive average of 1.3 goal contributions per game.
It is the second consecutive season in which he has reached the 30-goal mark since joining the MLS club in 2023. Across his career, this is the 15th time he has scored at least 30 goals for a club in a single season. The only exception was his spell at Paris Saint-Germain.
His most prolific period came at Barcelona, where he scored at least 30 goals in 13 consecutive seasons. His outstanding 2011/12 campaign remains the benchmark, with 73 goals in all competitions.
Messi also surpassed 40 goals in 11 different seasons, reached 50 on six occasions and scored more than 60 twice.
He now has 817 club goals and 943 in total when his appearances for Argentina are included.
