Nottingham Forest ‘close to signing’ Dodo as Fagioli interest emerges

Nottingham Forest enter a pivotal week as Oliver Glasner’s side open the 2026/27 Premier League at home to Leeds United on Saturday, then race the window to its one September deadline.

On the right flank, a move for Fiorentina defender Dodo is said to be advancing, with X claiming a deal is being lined up to 2030 and the switch described as “one step away”.

The 27-year-old has 12 months left on his contract and joined Fiorentina from Shakhtar Donetsk four years ago. Comfortable at right-back and wing-back, he would suit Glasner’s three-at-the-back shape and deepen defensive options.

Elsewhere, reports have linked Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz, though if Dodo arrives a second specialist right-back would be unlikely. Clubs tend to keep alternatives alive until paperwork is signed.

Forest have already added Xaver Schlager in midfield and still want another option. Sportmediaset reports that the Reds are interested in Fiorentina’s Nicolo Fagioli, with Crystal Palace and Napoli also said to be monitoring the 25-year-old.

With Elliot Anderson having moved to Manchester City earlier in the summer, the search for the right profile could run close to the deadline.
