Rashford keen to focus on football amid pundit spotlight

Marcus Rashford has said on social media that he wants to ‘play football without my name being mentioned every day’.

Rashford has been in the headlines this summer after returning to Manchester United from a loan spell at Barcelona. The Spanish side opted against signing Rashford permanently, and he’s now set to be reintegrated into the Manchester United side.

The 28-year-old responded to a clip from an upcoming episode of Stick to Football, in which Jamie Carragher shut down fellow pundit Gary Neville for repeatedly bringing Rashford up as a talking point.

In a clip posted on X, Neville asks: “Oh, Marcus Rashford. What do we think?”

Carragher replied with a frustrated response and questioned the need to discuss Rashford again.

“Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford? Stop it. Oh my God. It’s like the Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Rashford…like a little part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part.”

Rashford replied to the clip in a post on X, saying: “Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”
