Régis Le Bris issues major Sunderland injury update ahead of Ipswich Town clash

Régis Le Bris has been handed a triple injury boost before Sunderland’s Premier League opener at Ipswich Town, though he suggested the returning trio might not start.

According to Sunderland Echo, right back Thomas Meunier trained this week after a back complaint and, having missed the 2-1 win over Stade Rennais, is set to rejoin the squad at Ipswich Town.

Le Bris also said Omar Alderete and Nordi Mukiele are fit to feature. Mukiele has been out since the 1-0 win over Wrexham, while Alderete has not played in pre-season because of a knee issue.

He added that everyone is available except Simon, and game time will depend on fitness levels.

Adingra is expected to be out for a few more weeks after an ankle injury in that Wrexham game around a fortnight ago, with the recovery estimated at about six weeks and currently at its midpoint.

Le Bris said he was not yet sure whether the setback would affect the winger’s prospects of a move for regular game time before the transfer deadline on September first.
