Serie A | Torino 0-2 Roma: Malen and Pisilli maintain perfect start

Donyell Malen and a late Niccolò Pisilli strike saw Roma maintain their 100 per cent Serie A record, conquering Torino 2-0 away from home.
The Giallorossi came back from a goal down at the 88th minute to beat Atalanta 2-1 and maintain their perfect Serie A start, but were held 1-1 by Fenerbahce in their Champions League opener in Istanbul on Thursday. Evan Ndicka, Wesley and Manu Koné sustained knocks in that game, so Leonardo Balerdi and Nahuel Molina got their first starts. Toro lost Che Adams, Cesare Casadei, Pietro Pellegri and Franco Israel, with Giovanni Simeone and Saul Coco nowhere near 100 per cent either.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Malen made his debut in this stadium back in January 2026 and scored there, nearly doing the same after 10 minutes with a diving header over from six yards on the Mario Hermoso cross.
Malen also saw a strike deflected wide after Matias Soulé was wasteful with a heavy first touch, then a desperate Coco clearance in the six-yard box prevented Malen getting on the end of Emanuele Lulli’s pull-back after squirming between two.
Malen did have the ball in the net on 22 minutes, but was clearly offside when starting the run from midfield.

Eray Comert blasted over for Torino, with Rolando Mandragora testing Mile Svilar from distance, while Paulo Dybala’s free header was wide from 12 yards.
The deadlock was eventually broken when Dybala intercepted a wayward Lucas Perri pass out from defence and set up Malen, so while the first attempt was blocked by Pietro Comuzzo and the goalkeeper, the Dutchman still managed to stick out a boot and prod the loose ball into the net from six yards.

Alessio Cacciamani came on for the second half, a player that Roma had tried to sign during the summer, but Emanuele Lulli threatened to score a stunner with his volley just over after acrobatically combining with Malen.
Torino came close too, as Simeone sprung the offside trap on a Daniel Braganca pass, but Svilar came rushing off his line to charge down the dinked finish with his chest.

Marten de Roon won it back with a crunching tackle to set up Molina for the daisy-cutter palmed round the upright by Perri, while Balerdi impressed by stopping Daniel Braganca in his tracks with a perfectly-timed challenge.
Roma did make it 2-0 in stoppages when Gianluca Mancini kept the ball in play at the by-line and Dybala was blocked off, but Pisilli fired in the angled drive and immediately went down in agony with cramp, ruining his celebration.
