Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi teases 'bomba' signing in attack - and says club's summer business is nowhere near finished despite £237m spending spree!

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has teased a 'bomba' signing in attack, insisting the club's summer business is only '60 per cent' complete despite already breaking their transfer record twice in this window alone.

Spurs have spent £237million on signing Sandro Tonali (£100m), Mateus Fernandes (£85m) and Jan Paul van Hecke (£52m). They have also brought in Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers after back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League.

De Zerbi, who described himself as a 'shark' in the market, is now keen to add to his attack before the next season gets going. Daily Mail Sport understands the 'bomba' referenced by De Zerbi is not believed to refer to Savinho, the Manchester City winger who Spurs are also trying to bring in.

'The transfer market, it's not finished for sure, but we completed 60 per cent of our project in the transfer market,' De Zerbi said. 'Now we have another bomba.'

Asked whether it was close to completion, with De Zerbi having compiled his transfer targets during his negotiations with Spurs' bosses, he added: 'I hope, but it's not finished for sure.

'(We want) attackers, and then we find the position. I normally don't love working with plan A, plan B, plan C. It's plan A, then stop. Because the players are not the same. There are not two players the same.'

De Zerbi also revealed how Djed Spence, who enjoyed a breakout summer for England at the World Cup, has previously spoken to him about leaving Tottenham this summer. That goes along with others interested in exiting, including Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Lucas Bergvall.

'At the beginning of my time, in April I had, I don't know, one million individual meetings, and they (Romero and Vicario) told me their idea,' De Zerbi explained.

'I said: "Yes, help me to stay up, and then I help you to leave. If you don't help me to stay up, you stay underwater with me." But Romero with me was unbelievable. Top.

'In his behaviour, his respect, he suffered when he did not play the last game. It is not true that he wanted to leave for Argentina to prepare their World Cup. It's not true. After the semi-final (of the World Cup) we text a message, but I never called him to convince him to stay. I respected what he told me. Like for Vicario. Like for every player.

'What I normally say to you is the same that I said before to the players. For example, Djed Spence, or Lucas Bergvall, both are sensitive topics for you, no? I repeat what I said to Djed, and to Lucas, 'I would like you to stay, not I want you to stay. I would like you stay if you want to stay. If you don't want to stay, if you want to leave, you have to leave.'

'If you want to leave, speak with Vinai (Venkatashem, chief executive) and Johan (Lange). Because I don't manage the price, the sale. I can speak with Vinai and Johan about the best strategy to do, but I don't decide £30m, £40m, that's not my position and I don't want to change my position. It's tough enough to be a coach and I want to stay as a coach.

'But I respected the players' ideas and opinions or projects. But if they stay, they have to stay following my rules, decisions on the pitch.'
