Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid will reportedly meet within the next 48 hours to discuss a new contract as Arsenal wait in the wings ready to pounce.
Reports from Brazil on Monday evening claimed that Real Madrid have made an improved contract offer following the forward's return to pre-season training.
Talks had been stalled for almost a year as Vinicius Jr holds out for a salary worth around €30million a year, and ESPN report that the latest offer is worth around €22m annually.
It remains to be seen if Vinicius Jr will accept the offer, which is an increase on his current wage, said to be around €17.5m.
But these latest reports will be welcomed at Arsenal as they look for clarity on the forward's plans.

Vinicius Jr's current contract expires next summer, and Real Madrid are said to be open to selling him should terms not be agreed this month as they do not wish to lose him on a free transfer next summer. In that scenario, Vinicius would be able to sign a pre-contract with another club - such as Arsenal - from January 2027.
On Tuesday morning, Spanish journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon reported that club and player will meet within the next 48 hours to discuss the new contract offer.
Arsenal will then learn where they stand.
Mikel Arteta is said to be determined to sign the Brazilian forward as he looks to bolster a forward line who underwhelmed last season despite a Premier League title triumph.
The player is thought to be open to a move to north London should he not agree an extension with Madrid, which remains his priority.
It remains to be seen how much Madrid would demand for the player in terms of a transfer fee, but would almost certainly shatter the club-record £105m outlay on Declan Rice.
Vinicius Jr would also have to be made the highest-paid player in the club's history, beyond the reported £300,000 that Bukayo Saka earns.
