Kane performs u-turn on Premier League return as stunning transfer plotted

Harry Kane has claimed that the ‘itch’ of a Premier League return is no longer on his mind. The England captain has been linked with a switch back to England practically since putting pen to paper on a £100m move to Bayern Munich back in 2023.

It was thought that the prospect of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time scoring record was a realistic target for the forward. But it now appears that a return to the Premier League is no longer on the agenda for the 33-year-old.

Speaking after winning the European Golden Shoe, Kane said: “When I first left [Spurs in 2023], for sure it was something that I thought I'd definitely be coming back. That itch isn't there as much any more.

"I'm extremely happy here in Munich. It's opened my eyes to a totally different world of football outside of England. It's made me appreciate European football even more.

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two:

1. Head THIS WAY

"With the team we have here, with the manager [Vincent Kompany]. My family are really settled here. It's just about being in the best place possible.

"I never say never but, for now, I'm concentrating on Bayern Munich, and we'll see what the future holds."

Kane has been in sensational form for Bayern scoring 146 goals in 147 appearances for the German side. As it stands, he is set to leave next summer, with his contract due to expire, while Spanish side Barcelona are lurking to take advantage should talks over a new deal not go positively.

Despite that, Kane remains relaxed over signing extended terms at the Allianz Arena. He added: "We obviously said we wanted to talk after the World Cup and after my holiday.

"So I'm not sure exactly when, but they'll start this week, next week... we'll start those talks. Like I've said before, we're calm, I think they're calm with the situation.

"Obviously now is the time to start talking, because there's only a year left. That's important. But both sides are relaxed, and I'm pretty sure there'll be some talks this week or next week."

While a Premier League return is not quite in Kane’s mind, one target that is is the Ballon d’Or. He said: "The Ballon d'Or is as big as it gets, from an individual point of view. I know I had a great season last season, but the focus is on this new season.

"The Ballon d'Or's not in my hands. I've done what I can do in terms of putting in the performances. It's now down to votes and other people and the media - stuff I can't control - so we'll see what happens.

"Obviously, it would be amazing if it was to happen. But ultimately, it's still two or three months away before that's decided so it's not something that's at the front of my mind right now."
